AS Business studies trip to Chester Zoo On Tuesday the 13th of September a group
of AS level business studies students travelled to Chester Zoo
to discover how the zoo is run. Upon arrival at the zoo we were
given a presentation on how Chester Zoo is organised and managed
and the role of its human resources department. This talk was rich
in information which was all highly applicable to our business
studies course making the trip a success and a valuable learning
opportunity. The group would like to thank Miss Rowley and Ms Roberts
for organising the trip and accompanying us to the zoo.

Trip to Alton Towers The best
of what Alton Towers has to offer; Air, Oblivion, Nemesis... -
all in the course of a school day? "Surely not!" I hear you cry,
but it is true to the delight of this year's 4th form Economics
and Business Studies students.
One sunny Wednesday morning we all eagerly
clambered into the waiting Meredith's coach bound for Alton towers.
Enthusiasm not dampened by the two hour journey we arrived at
11:30 to an oasis of rides and no queues. After an hour and a
half or so of free reign over the park, we had - since this trip
was done under the pretext of education - to learn something.
The learning consisted of a very informative forty-five minute
presentation on Alton towers and the leisure industry in general.
Learning done, or so we thought, we were given until 3:45 to
continue sampling the delights of the park. The sunny and previously
clear skies now unfortunately had deteriorated into grey cloud
and drizzle, but that wasn't going to stop us having fun.
At 4:00 we were en route to King's having had a very good trip,
but then I would say that wouldn't I?
The sting in the tail? The department's workbook, consisting of
nine pages of questions on Alton Towers as a business due in for
next week. No such thing as a free lunch, then.
