1st team boys against Rydal School (Nestle Schools Knock Out) - Wednesday, February 06, 2008 (home)
King's lost 22 to 27 The Boys Senior Tennis Team consisting of Ian Britton, Simon Bate, Patrick Fletcher and Justin Witter played Rydal School. Ian and Patrick won their singles matches and Simon and Justin lost , so the match rested on the doubles. Ian and Justin won their match but Simon and Patrick lost , the match was therefore a draw ,however, King's lost on a countback of games. King's won 22 games and Rydal won 27. Bad luck but well played. CM

King's won 5 to 1 Another great performance from the whole team which consisted of Sean Boyd, Ian Britton, Simon Bate and Patrick Fletcher. King's won all the singles matches and one of the doubles matches. A special thanks to Patrick who came into the team at very late notice and won all his matches with a borrowed racket! King's won 4 to 2
The boys' first tennis team consisting of James Barber, Sean Boyd, Stephen Mosford and Patrick Fletcher played Rydal Schol in the regional round of the Nestle national tennis knock out competition. In the doubles matches James and Sean and Stephen and Patrick beat there equifiliant pairs from Rydal relatively comfortably. It was a slightly different story in the singles events James lost to the Rydal number one, Steven lost to Rydal number four, but Sean and Patrick won against Rydal numbers two and four respectively. Overall King's won 4 - 2 and go on to play Ellesmere College. Well done. CM

L,Williams,O.Green,B.Kresnyak,J.Lewis,J.Stirrup and R.Drummond represented The King's School Year 7 Tennis Team against The Grange School. All three pairs played twenty minute timed games against each of the opposition pairs. The score ater all four rounds had been played was King's won 54 games and The Grange won 33. This was quite a convincing victory and congratulations go to all those players who competed so well and who achieved such a good result. CM

They played twenty minute games aginst each of the opposition pairs and after all four rubbers had been played the score was King's 17 games The Grange School 14 games. The Boy's Senior Tennis Team consisting of Sam Salt, Ian Britton, Simon Bate and Sean Boyd played a experienced staff team of C.Morris, G.Ward, P.Neal and R.Hornby.We played a round robin doubles match and all kept changing partners. Youth beat experience 4 rubbers to 2. Noteable staff victories were achieved by Mr Neal and Mr Morris who beat Simon and Sean and Mr Ward and Mr Morris who beat Sam and Ian, no mention will be made of the students lucky wins!! Well played boys, glad all the coaching has paid off. CM

Luke Williams represented Chester Schools in the finals of the Year 7 tennis singles at Wilmslow School on the 3rd July 2007. He played really well but lost his two singles rubbers in two very closely fought matches and he did not qualify for the final play off. 1st team boys against Shrewsbury School (Regional Final of National Schools Tenn) - Friday, June 08, 2007 (away)
King's lost 2 to 4 On Friday evening the first tennis team played Shrewsbury in the Regional Final of the National Schools Tennis Competition. The team comprised of James Barber, Abbas Bowen, Ian Britton, and Sean Boyd. The match consisted of four singles rubbers and all four went to three sets and King's won two, Sean Boyd and Abbas Bowen were victorious and both played to a very high standard, James and Ian lost their singles games. We then played two doubles matches, James partnered Abbas and lost their event again in a very closely fought match in three sets, the same happened to Ian and Sean. The team are to be congratulated for reaching this stage in a national competition and for their overall performance.

Robert, George and Matthew played well in their groups but did not qualify for the finals, Serg came second in his group and third overall in the finals. All the boys played well and had a good afternoon's tennis. CM

Senior boys against Northern Region British Schools (Cup Competition) - Saturday, May 12, 2007 (away)
King's won
On Saturday 12th May 07 King's Senior Tennis Team competed in the British Schools Northern Region U19's Tennis Championships in Bolton. King's first pair consisting of James Barber and Simon Bate lost in the first round of the main draw to South Hunsley School from Hull, they then went into the plate competition and beat Bosten Spa School 10-0, Yarn School (second team) 10-5, Wilberforce College 10-6 and Bradford G.S 10-3 in the final. Well done to James and Simon achieving this success after their first found exit. King's second pair consisting of Sean Boyd and Ian Britton won their first round match in the main draw. They beat a very strong team from Bradford Grammer School 10-9 in a tense and exciting match. They then played Yarm School first pair and beat them 10-4 and then lost to Bolton G.S., the eventual winners of the main event, in the semi final. Well done Ian and Sean.
Congratulations go to all players for achieving such good results and for bringing credit to the school. CM.

After all the singles and doubles matches had been played all three schools were level, King's School however won the match on the countback of the number of games won overall. They now qualify for the County Final. Well done to all the team and good luck in the final.

Loreto had a good pair one of whom was a lower 6th player. Amy And Kathryn had a much better second set as they only lost that 6 -3 as opposed to 6 -0 on the previous set.

King's won 4 to 2 The King's first team consisting of Sam Salt, James Barber,Abbas Bowen and Ian Britton beat Rydal School in the second round of the National School's Tennis Championships. In a very exciting match the rubbers score was level after the singles event, Sam and Ian winning their matches and James and Abbas loosing theirs. However King's won both doubles rubbers giving them a 4-2 victory overall. This was a excellent result against strong opposition, the Rydal team consisted of four highly rated German players and this was their first defeat!
