Match reports
U13 A girls won 1-0 against Hereford (away, October 12, 2008 )
The U13's started off slowly in this tournament; however throughout the day played with increasing determination and vigour. King's played some lovely possession hockey however failed to convert their chances in front of goal. The girls should be very proud of the way they conducted themselves throughout the day and how well they played. back to results tables

1st girls won 1-0 against King's Macclesfield (home, October 08, 2008 )

After a victorious Chester and District Hockey tournament on Monday King’s were confident in their preparation for this tournament. King’s have good experience in this competition; most of the squad having reached the North Finals with the U16’s last year. In the group stages King’s started off positively against the first opposition Wilmslow. King’s dominated both halves of the game and Sophie Clough (a new and valuable member of the squad) struck both goals well to secure a 2-0 win. In the second game King’s faced King’s Macclesfield. The game was evenly paced to start; however King’s maintained steady pressure and failed to capitalize on the numerous shots on goal. King’s left it to the last two minutes of the game to win 1-0 with a fantastic strike from Siobhan Barnard. Steady performances at the back from Hannah Rudge and Sophie Clough ensured King’s gained maximum points. In the final group game King’s needed a win to secure top spot of the group; King’s pulled out all the stops to beat Grange convincingly 5-0. Amy Bellis was on top form in front of goal scoring 4; captain Sarah Underhill scoring the other. Sara Sadiq in particular made an inspiring run from the half way line to the back line; placing the ball across the face of goal for Amy to convert.
As winners of the group King’s faced runners-up of pool B; Queens. King’s worked hard to keep possession and were only tested in front of goal twice. King’s took the lead before half time through Kate Saunders after a spell of good attacking hockey. King’s thoroughly deserved the victory and thanks to a last minute Alice Plews diving save in front of goal went through to the final.
King’s Macclesfield beat Lymm High School in the other semi-final, so King’s were positive in their approach to the game. King’s used the wide attacking channels well and once again dominated the play. With a change of routine at the penalty corners; Kate Saunders injected and Sophie Clough converted a strike to put King’s in the lead. King’s sustained the pressure and kept possession well to guarantee the success and a place in the North Semi Final on Tuesday November 11th at Timperley Hockey Club, Altrincham.
All squad members conducted themselves with great enthusiasm and enjoyed their afternoon of victory. We wish them the best of luck in the next round.

1st girls won 1-0 against Queens (away, October 06, 2008 )
The King's School won the Chester and District Tournament held at Upton; with convincing wins over Abbeygate and Queens and two goalless draws with Christelton and Heber. The squad played some good attacking hockey and are positive in preparation for their National Schools Hockey Tournament later in the week. back to results tables
1st XI won 4-2 against Sandbach (away, October 01, 2008 )
After the disappointment of having two consecutive opponents let us down for fixtures, the King's boys were desperate to make amends for the below par performance against Calday three weeks ago. For the last two seasons, the 1st X1 have fallen at the first hurdle in the National Cup competition but with this talented bunch of players, King's stand a real chance of achieving this season. The game started very well with King's dominating the early exchanges; Max Ankers and Tom Fearnall providing some class in the centre of midfield. The deadlock was broken after 15 minutes with a flowing passing move resulting in some desperate defending by Sandbach who could only prevent a goal by using a foot on the line. The resultant penalty stroke was emphatically converted by Max Ankers. The lead was doubled 5 minutes later when some excellent work by George Cope was smashed home by Ben Lamont. Substitutions followed and although all competed well, Sandbach managed to pinch a goal before half time and against the run of play. This gave Sandbach the momentum and they equalised shortly after half time. The King's boys responded well and showed great character with both Jonathan Rodger and Ben Lamont both finding the target to end a good positive performance by the King's 1st X1. The boys eagerly await the next round! back to results tables
U15 girls won 1-0 against Rydal (home, September 27, 2008 )
King's dominated the game and deserved to score more. They had some great chances that just went slightly wide. Megan Rudge had a particularly good game her ball control and passing were excellent. K Jones back to results tables
U14 girls won 4-0 against Rydal (home, September 27, 2008 )
King's had a good start and went 1 -0 up by Lydia Carr in the first half, but after a good half time talk they started to fire on all engines in the second half and came out aggresssive and ready to score more goals, which they did in style. A really good team performance. K Jones back to results tables

1st girls won 9-1 against Shrewsbury Sixth Form (home, September 24, 2008 )
A much improved team performance after a heavy defeat at the weekend. The full strength squad worked hard on their movement off the ball to support one another and were rewarded with some excellent goals. back to results tables
U15 girls lost 0-2 against Queen's (home, September 23, 2008 )
A very close match, with Queen's scoring only in the last 10 minutes of the game. The U15 team have started the year very well. back to results tables
1st girls lost 1-7 against Ellesmere (away, September 20, 2008 )
A game that was not a true reflection of the disappointing score line. The King's girls played with 2 players less and on a grass surface, not used to being played on. The Ellesmere team commented in particular on the determination of the King's girls and the constant pressure they faced when in possession of the ball. The team were well commended for this and despite being 7 goals down on the final whistle players showed great resilience and fitness in their determination and hard work. An outstanding display in goal from Annabelle Church ensured the goal difference was not greater.

1st XI lost 1-2 against Calday Grange Grammar School (away, September 10, 2008 )
Always a difficult fixture at the start of the year, the boy's were looking forward to starting off a new season. Things got off to a positive start, King's dominating possession and creating many chances. The Calday goalkeeper was outstanding and maintained the deadlock until half-time. Early in the second half, a very well worked penalty corner saw King's go ahead through Ben Lamont. King's continued to push but a lack of concentration and too much dribbling enabled Calday to hit back with a break-away equaliser against the run of play. Unfortunately, King's tried to win the game immediately which again resulted in the midfield over committing which let Calday grab a late winner again on the break. This was a disappointing end to a game which could and should have been a routine win. There were many positives though and the boys are looking forward to proving themselves next week against Lymm. back to results tables
