Please find details below of all the cultural and social events taking place during the Summer term for the Senior and Junior Schools:

April

Fri 20th : Spring Concert, Chester Cathedral, 7.30pm - Tickets £10 Adults, £8 Concessions
A chance to hear Pergolesi's sublime Stabat Mater performed by twelve of our most talented singers and accompanied by senior King's string players, plus Vivaldi's Gloria sung by the Schola Cantorum. May

Sun 13th: Choral Mattins, Chester Cathedral, 11.30am - Free Admission
This is the second King's Mattins service, which will be sung by the Schola Cantorum. All Fourth Year pupils will be in attendance and all pupils, parents and friends are welcome. Refreshments will be served in the refectory after the service.

Fri 25th: Informal Lunchtime Recital, Vanbrugh Theatre, 1.15pm - Free Admission
Come and listen to the talents of our musicians in a range of solo performances.

June

Sat 9th: KSPCPA BBQ, The King's School Quadrangle, 4.30pm - Tickets £15 Adults, £8 Under 14s and familt ticket (2 adults, 2 children £50) - Event Poster
An informal afternoon to celebrate the year's rowing successes with delicious food and great company. Licensed bar available. For further details and tickets please contact ksrcpa@kingschester.co.uk

Thur 21st: GCSE and A level Art Exhibition, Gallery, 7.00pm - Free Admission
An opportunity to view the wonderful artwork created by King's talented artists for their final examinations. Refreshments will be served.

Sat 23rd: Jubilee Fun Day, Junior School playing Fields, 2.00pm - 4.00pm - Free Admission
Enjoy a day with lots of bunting and Jubilee themed activities with an overall street party theme. Events on the day include: Tug-of-War, Jubilee Balloon Race and a Tombola. There will be refreshments provided throughout the day which comprise of a traditional Homemade Cake Stall, Strawberries and Cream, Pimm's and Champagne. The school band will be playing a variety of pieces to entertain.

Wed 27th and Thurs 28th: J4 Play: Macbeth by Shakespeare4kidz, Vanbrugh Theatre, 7.00pm – Tickets £3 Adults, £2 Concessions from: http://www.kingschester.co.uk/theatre
A musical version of Macbeth sees the J4s performing in their annual production. There are 2 free tickets for parents of the performers.

Sat 30th: Cooking up a Recipe for Drama, Vanbrugh Theatre, 7.00pm – Tickets £3 Adults, £1.50 Concessions from: http://www.kingschester.co.uk/theatre
There is no script or playwright, a group of actors will work together and rely upon their imaginations to create a piece of theatre. This devised drama presentation by Removes, Shells and Third Year pupils will involve some students creating a piece of original drama inspired by an eye-catching photograph or painting. Others will create a theatrical adaptation of a fascinating newspaper or magazine article. The outcome is unknown, the journey of discovery is about to begin. We are cooking up a recipe for drama. So come along and see the results for yourselves. There are 2 free tickets for parents of the drama performers.

July

Mon 2nd July: Junior School Prizegiving Ceremony, Vanbrugh Theatre, 2.00pm
This is an afternoon to celebrate success as the Junior School award their prizes. Invitations will be sent to parents of prize winners. Guest of Honour is the current Lord Mayor Councillor Eleanor Johnson.

Mon 2nd: Jazz Night, Vanbrugh Theatre, 7.30pm – Tickets £15 Adults, £12 Concessions including supper from: http://www.kingschester.co.uk/theatre
Don't miss the annual Jazz Night, with an irresistible mix of good food and music from Big Band, Swing Band, Gospel Choir and King's Jazz Ensembles. Profits from Jazz Night are going to the Christine Cable Tribute Fund for Hope in support of Christie's Hospital, Manchester - http://hopefunds.christies.org/funds/christinecable

Tue 3rd: Summer Concert, Vanbrugh Theatre, 7.30pm – Tickets £6 Adults, £5 Concessions from: http://www.kingschester.co.uk/theatre
The Summer Concert features performances from a wide range of school bands, choirs and orchestras, including a performance of the first movement of Grieg's Piano Concerto with Selim Ungut as soloist.

Wed 4th: Staff v School VIII Boat Race, Boathouse, 5.30pm - Free admission
Join the Rowing Staff as they take on the School VIII in a race. Open to pupils, parents and staff, immediately after the Prizegiving. Refreshments are available.

Thur 5th: Leavers' Service, Chester Cathedral, 9.30am
The final Cathedral service of the year presented by the 2012 Upper Sixth Leavers with music from Schola Cantorum and the Chamber Choir

Thur 5th: Senior School Prizegiving, Chester Racecourse, 11.30am – Admission by invitation
The annual awarding of academic, sporting and pastoral prizes to all Senior School pupils and 2012 leavers with Guest of Honour: Gemma Bodinetz, the Artistic Director of Liverpool Theatres (the Everyman and Playhouse, famous for having premiered work by writers Willy Russell and Alan Bleasdale and been the home to many famous actors). In addition to all pupils (except Fifth Year pupils) and staff, invitations will be sent to leavers, their parents, prize winners and their parents.
