World Book Day

My name is Ruhi Singh and I went to World Book Day. I felt very nervous but excited. Was everyone going to be dressed up? Was my costume all right? I was dressed up as a nurse from The Beak Speaks. I used my dad’s scrubs, a black t-shirt and matching trousers.
When I arrived in the classroom, I was really shocked when I saw Mrs Dickson dressed as The Hungry Caterpillar! Henry was dressed up as Wizard Harry Potter, Najma as Horrid Henry and Sophie was dressed up as Peter from the Secret Seven. I sat down to read my school book but I couldn’t concentrate because of all the strange costumes around me!
At a quarter to nine I walked into Assembly, staring at all the extraordinary costumes. Mr Malone was dressed up as a chubby Shrek and Mrs Rudd was dressed up as the beautiful Fiona from Shrek, with green make-up powder on her face and fake ginger hair plaits! I thought the costumes were really funny. One boy from J4 was even dressed up as a girl with plaits in his hair and make-up on his face!
The World Book Day was really fun. It was very strange being taught by a huge caterpillar! If I have the opportunity to do the World Book Day again I would definitely say ………YES!

Harvest Gift
The Junior School presented this year's harvest collection to Captain Miller of the Salvation Army. The produce will be distributed around the Chester area over the Christmas period.

Junior School Fun Run

On the 26th May 2006, the Junior School did a ‘Fun Run’ to raise money for charity. We all wore costumes and our own clothes and Mr. Malone dressed in a pink dressing gown. It was a cold, wet day and the grass was very soggy but we all completed a mile. We all enjoyed it and we raised over £1000 for Breast Cancer Research UK.

Charity Events
The school directs its attention
to the needs of the wider community, both globally and
locally. Over many years it has raised money for a great
variety of causes. This is achieved through a request for
voluntary weekly contributions from the pupils. This helps
to encourage the habit of giving. Additionally there are
many events to raise further sums. One frequent and popular
method is the sale of cakes produced by the pupils. The
school never sells tickets for its various musical and
drama events but requests donations to charity. There are
particular links with a local children's hospice and the
elderly of the local parish. In recent years we have raised
money for Macmillan, the National Autistic Society, the
Fibrosis Trust, the Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund, Comic
Relief, Cancer Research, Unicef, FLAME, Children Today,
Dorin Park Special School and Claire
House Children's Hospice. |
