2006 AJIS Chess

AJIS chess - December 2006

On Saturday, 2nd December a group of twenty-three boys and girls from the  King’s Junior School were picked to play at the AJIS Chess Tournament at Bolton Boys’ School.  Eleven schools participated.

By the end of the day, we were placed third for the AJIS Shield.  This team, from the ‘Expert’ section, included Finn Abberton, Matthew Brindley, Oliver Church, George Thompson and Jack Owen.  Several people played very well, particularly Oliver Church, who scored three points out of five, and Sam Wild, who scored four out of five.  Sam Wild gained third prize in the ‘Individual Beginner’ section.

Everyone enjoyed themselves.  It was a brilliant day out which we’ll all remember.  Special thanks to Miss Arkle for organising it and also for taking us there.  Also thanks to parents who came along to support us.
