Match reports
AJIS Cup Final (photos)
On Tuesday 18th March, the U11 A team went to Birkenhead to play in a cup final against St. Bede’s from Manchester whom we had already beaten twice this season. We were confident but not complacent.
King's had most of the possession in the first half but credit to St. Bede’s, they managed to score a goal and defend very well. Jack Powell had a glorious effort on goal from a free kick which shaved the crossbar. End of the first half.
During the half time interval, we had a quick team talk and went out onto the field determined to win. We had most of the play in the second half as well, with Sam Jones going particularly close with one effort; we pressed hard for an equalizer but could not find a way through a resolute defence. The final whistle went with the score 1-0 to St. Bede’s. This was only the second time we had failed to score all season! The coach journey was quiet on the way back until Mr. Malone played his pre-prepared CD.
The team, parents and coach went to TGI Fridays after the match. We had an enjoyable time but victory would have made it even sweeter!
Thank you, Mr. Malone, for a great season!!!

U11A Cambridge tour

Friday 12th October
We got on the bus at 9 o'clock after a couple of photos and set off towards Cambridge. After a long time of singing songs, playing on gameboys, buying sweets at service stations and listening to iPods we arrived at Grafham Water, a reservoir, to have lunch. After about an hour we left for Kimbolton School to play our first match of the tour. We started well and James Ingleby-Jones hit the post. During the second half we scored twice through Jack Powell and James I-J. They pulled one back but we held on and won 2-1. We had a nice tea of sausages and chips and then we said goodbye and set off to Cambridge to meet our host families. We arrived, after forty-five minutes on the road, at The Perse School. We then met our host families and went back to their houses for the night. Saturday 13th October
We got up early and had breakfast. We then said goodbye to our hosts and got on the coach. We set off towards Bedford Modern and arrived in an hour. We played the game and won 8-1 with Jack Powell scoring a hat-trick, Elliot Horsburgh scoring two and Ben Johnson, Eddie Speed and Steve Rimmer all scoring one. We had refreshments and a penalty shoot-out which Tommy Speed won. We then went to the Bedford Oasis swimming pool for two hours. Then we came back to Cambridge to go bowling. Steve Rimmer won the bowling trophy by one point. After finishing we went back to The Perse and we were collected by our host families and went home to have a good night's sleep.
Sunday 14th October
We woke up and then went to The Perse to play our annual match. We started off well with us 2-0 up at half time thanks to goals by Elliot Horsburgh and Ben Johnson. They came back near the end of the second half by scoring twice and equalising. We tried to get a goal back but we couldn't. The final score was King's 2-2 Perse. We then said goodbye to our hosts. We had a great time and our thanks to Mr Malone and Mr O'Neil for a great weekend.

U11A vs St Bede's
On Friday 5th October, the U11A team went to St Bede's in Manchester. We left school at 1 pm and headed to Manchester. We got there at 2 pm, changed quickly and ran out on to the pitch. We warmed up before the referee blew his whistle and we started.
St Bede's won the toss and they kicked off. King's started badly with a few awkward clearances and St Bede's took the advantage with a goal from a corner. A few minutes later, Sam Jones chested down a Jack Powell corner and volleyed it into the bottom corner. It was then half time.
We had a quick team talk and went out onto the pitch with our heads up. Fifteen minutes into the second half, Ben Johnson laid the ball back for Josh Kresnyak to smash the ball home. It was tough from then on but, with some great tackles from the defence, we won the match.

U11A vs St Bede's
On Friday 5th October, King's A, B, C and D teams all set off to St Bede's in Manchester. After getting changed we set off to the different pitches. King's got off to a good start with Oliver Moore scoring from outside the box, closely followed by Elliott hitting the post. But, shortly after, Elliott had another shot and scored in the far corner of the goal. Just before half-time, Elliott got his second goal to make the score 3-0.
In the second half, Mr Luck took off Justin to put on David Daly to play at left back. Elliott completed his hat-trick as one of our defenders lobbed the ball over to Elliott, who shot and scored in the left bottom corner and made it 4-0 to King's. When St Bede's kicked off after the goal, the referee gave them a penalty almost straight away and their striker hit the bar and Richard cleared the ball to Oliver, who crossed it in to Teddy and he scuffed his shot and came back out to Oliver who crossed the ball back in to the middle of the box and George Atkins flew into the area and smashed the ball into the post and Mr Luck awarded him post of the season at the end of the match. St Bede's scored from a counter-attack and then scored another goal, which our keeper, Jack Meadows got a hand to but it still went in. The final score was 4-2 to King's B.

U11C vs St Bede's
On Friday 5th October, King's U11C team travelled to St Bede's in Manchester to play them at football.
After leaving the changing rooms, we made our way to the far pitches. St Bede's won the toss so they kicked the game off. It didn't really matter, though, because King's got possession and ran down the right wing. Callum Poppleton's attempted cross then flew into the far top corner. This meant we had the lead. James Wilkinson then scored a further two goals, shortly followed by two goals from Mark Breese and a hat-trick (three goals) from James Cope. The referee then blew for half time.
Mr O'Neil's half-time team talk helped us. In the second half, Cope scored a further three, James Wilkinson scored one from Toby Wilkinson's cross and Mark Breese scored another. Unfortunately, it wasn't thirteen-nil because we lost concentration once so they scored, making it thirteen-one.
