Match Reports1st girls lost 6-24 against Shrewsbury School home March 10, 2010After a very postive start with King's dfence of Ellie Sowden and Fizzy Elesgood gaining a lot of posesssion for King's, the score line starte to slip away from King's. Megan Rudge although shot well was soundly marked by the Shrewsbury GoalKeeper and as the Goal defence was extremely tall Millie Johnson did well but both shooters struggled to get any rebounds. Mid court worked well despite changes each quater with Jaimie Crowther, Zoe Duckworth, Miranda Harle and Kate Coppack. To be fair Shrewsbury's passing and timing was outstanding and as the score line reflected this. back to results tables U12 A girls lost 2-11 against Christleton away March 09, 2010The end of year tournament was played in cold conditions at Bishop Blue Coat in Chester. King's played 7 matches and ended up coming a respectful 4th place after a slow start to the tournament. It took 3 matches for King's to warm up and play as well as they have shown they can during the season. The eventual winners Christleton were very strong and beat us comfortably in our first match. In the second match against Upton, King's conceeded less and played some nicer netball but all too often rushed and lost possession of the ball up the court. In the third match against Queen's again the team work and communication was getting stronger however we let the ball in the goal semi circle far too often and Queen's took their chances. Having lost the opening three matches was disappointing for the girl's but their determination seemed to get stronger (combined with a bag of jelly bables) and they played their last three matches with a more direct approach to goal. Harriet Fisher and Lucy Fisher seemed to have better luck in front of goal against Heber and although the score line was close at 3-2 in our favour, King's were actually technically stronger and had alot more of the ball. Against Bishops again, King's were dominate in both circles and Emily Scott and Emily Boothroyd battled mid court. In King's final game against Catholic High it all seemed to come together if not a little late. Finishing fourth is a good result for their first tournament and I am confident they can work over the next year to finish higher next season. The girls' represented King's very well and their sportsmanship, behaviour and attitude was to be proud of. back to results tablesU12 A girls lost 1-5 against Upton away March 09, 2010U12 A girls lost 2-7 against Queen's away March 09, 2010U12 A girls won 3-2 against Bishops Heber away March 09, 2010U12 A girls won 5-2 against Bishops away March 09, 2010U12 A girls won 4-0 against Catholic High away March 09, 2010U16 girls lost 14-31 against Weaverham HS away March 08, 2010This was a mixed game containing players from three age groups and thank you to Elizabeth Cousins for stepping in at the last minute. Although losing in the end, the score during the second quarter was 7-8 to Weaverham, but their lead increased in the second half as their shooters couldn't miss.Considering the mixture of players, the team worked well together especially towards the end and special mention goes to Hannah Porter who was voted man of the match and Charlotte Gurran who played the whole game out of position. back to results tablesU14 girls lost 21-24 against Weaverham HS away March 08, 2010U14 girls lost 2-6 against Christleton HS away March 04, 2010U14 girls won 9-3 against Queens Park HS away March 04, 2010U14 girls lost 1-13 against Bishops HS away March 04, 2010U14 girls lost 4-5 against Abbey Gate College away March 04, 2010U14 girls lost 3-7 against Upton away March 04, 2010U14 girls lost 2-6 against Bishop Heber away March 04, 2010We took a squad of 12 players to the Yr 9 District Tournament, the largest of all the schools. The girls started slowly against Christleton who were the overall winners. Harriet Robinson and Henrietta Green shot well. Things picked up against QPHS with Lucy Kinsey scoring a fantastic goal from way out. With strong teams from Upton and Heber to overcome next we made many changes so all the girls could play an even amount. Bishops out played us and we could not cope with their speed and accuracy of passing. However against AbbeyGate we should have won. Shooting was not happening for us on this game despite getting it into the D on numerous occasions. King's finished 7th overall but the girls were fantastic. As well as four shooters the squad consisted of Jess Cole, Sian Davis, Eleanor Carmichael, Charlotte Lowe, Elizabeth Cousins, Urbi Sen Nia Hughes and Laura Johnson back to results tables1st girls lost 20-35 against Shrewsbury Sixth Form Centre away March 03, 2010This result does not fairly represent the game. King's started slowly and went 7-1 in a matter of minutes; to their credit they then picked themselves up and with some good shooting narrowed the gap to 13-10 in the first quarter. Hannah Phillips organised the team brilliantly and in the second quarter defended better to bring it closer at 21-15. In the third quarter with a more defensive approach King's missed a few chances in front of goal and were losing 27-18 at the end of the third. A tired, but determined team eventually ended up losing 35-20 after a strong finish from Shrewsbury in the final quarter. back to results tablesU16 girls lost 8-19 against Upton Hs away February 24, 2010U14 girls lost 5-23 against Upton Hs away February 24, 2010U13 B girls won 14-7 against Upton Hs away February 24, 2010U13 A girls lost 3-13 against Upton Hs away February 24, 2010 |
