Electrifying performance of 'Waiting for Godot' by Sixth Formers

Waiting for GodotThe King’s School Sixth Form pupils gave an electrifying performance of  Samuel Beckett’s renowned play ‘Waiting For Godot’ to their audience on Friday and Saturday. When a West End star from a famous production says to Sixth Formers who have just put on the same play that he has been deeply moved, and has seen the play in a different way then you know you’ve seen something special.

Former King’s pupil, Ronald Pickup, made good the promise he made at the opening of the Vanbrugh Theatre in June to return and see Sixth Former Luke Howarth’s production of ‘Waiting For Godot’ last Friday: he was Lucky in the National Theatre production (alongside Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart and Simon Callow) and it was terrific that he stayed and chatted with the King’s cast after their performance. The production was directed, produced and acted solely by Sixth Form pupils; they played to a full house on both nights and the curtains fell to tumultuous applause.
