King's Netball and Football tournament

The King’s School recently held an invitational netball and football tournament for Year 5 and 6 children from schools across Chester and North Wales. This is the third year that King’s have staged the tournament.

Winners in the Plate Competition this year were The Firs School for both Football and Netball.  In the Cup competition the netball winners for the second year was Waverton Community Primary School, and in the football was Upton Heath Primary School.  Winners, Upton Heath School has been invited by Everton to play in a tournament at Finch Farm (Everton’s training ground) next month as a result of the tournament.

Twenty-eight pupils from King’s Third Year  who are currently doing a Junior Sports Leaders’ Award as part of the new enrichment courses, helped out on the day. Four former students refereed the football and the netball was umpired by trainee PE teachers from Chester University and our new netball coach Fran Cosgrove.  Scouts from Everton Football Club were also there on the day on the lookout for any new talent in the area. Apart from some of the worst rain we have had in a while the event was a great success.King's boys with their football medalsKing's girls with their medalsKing's girls after playing netball King's boys
