King’s Pupils’ swim to victory

Swimming SquadKing’s sent two squads to Everton Park Sports Centre for the North West Swimming Relay Competition.  The event comprise of the two swimming relay disciplines of Medley and Freestyle relays and entrants came from all over the North West from Cheshire in the south to Cumbria in the north.

King's entered a boys’ and a girls’ team at intermediate level (3rd Year  and below) and both teams performed admirably.  The girls’ team of Jessica Lee (RMIR), Isobel Wild (RMGA), Jennifer McDonald (SHLP), Katie Lawrence-Smith (3DB), and Anna Willis (3DB), swam really well and placed 20th in both relays, despite having three underage swimmers. 

The boys’ team had a tremendous evening, their times seeing them placed 2nd overall - a fantastic achievement as all the top swimming schools from Merseyside, Lancashire and Greater Manchester were present. The boys’ team consisted of: Sam Wild (3AI), Simon Ellershaw (3AI), Alex Tan (3AI), and Daniel Weatherley (3AI).The boys now face an anxious wait while the results come in from the other 7 regions.  If their time remains in the top 16 they will be invited to the National Finals in Southampton later this year.
