Pupils swim in the National Relay Finals
The four boys qualified for the finals after a great swim in the regional heats in Liverpool and travelled down to Southampton to compete against the best swimming schools in the country. Having qualified 11th in the Medley Relay (Backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and frontcrawl) it would be a tough 'ask' to reach the final, with only the top 8 teams qualifying after the heats. King's swam beautifully, taking an incredible 6 seconds off their previous best, but were, agonisingly, beaten into 9th place by 0.02 secs , a time which equates to 3cm over a 200m swim! Despite also improving their Personal Best in the freestyle relay King's weren't quite fast enough on the day and finished 10th. Despite the disappointment the boys were well-pleased with their efforts - to finish 1st and 2nd reserves in a meeting of this calibre augurs well for then future of swimming at King's. For those interested in swimming please note that sessions run from 7.50am - 8.35am on Tuesdays and 4-5pm on Wednesdays, with instruction with a top local coach, Craig Prime from The Chester Academy. |
