King’s School Rowing Club Annual Pudding Races

The King’s School Rowing Club is holding its annual ‘Pudding Races’ on Saturday 10th December at The King’s School Boathouse off Souters Lane.

This historic annual event, which originates from the 1950s, involves all of The King’s School rowers competing in scratch VIIIs, with the winners being presented with Christmas puddings.

There is also a sponsored boat event, which this year sees the MILLEN CAPITAL boat compete against the CAZENOVE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT boat in a head-to-head race. The two businesses were the lucky winners of a race night boat race. Races start from 9am and the winner will be presented with a plaque from the Lord Mayor at 12 noon.

The event also sees the annual boat-naming ceremony when the School’s new rowing boats are officially named. This year boats will be named after former pupils: Franz Imfeld, Gavin Mitchell, Richard Guppy, Mark Machin, Thomas Menzies, Peter Harden, Katie Levitt, Charlotte Gillies and Mrs Karen Shapland (King’s Coach & teacher).

The senior rowers will also be attempting a “marathon” row on the ergos in record time, fundraising for a local charity.

Refreshments are served and everyone is welcome.
