Follow Mr Egerton’s progress in the Champions Trophy

simonFollowing his selection for the England Hockey Squad, Mr Egerton is currently in Australia competing in The Champions Trophy.

So far, England have won a Silver medal in the Super Series 9's in Perth - beating Pakistan and India on route to the final, losing to hosts Australia.

England’s opening match of the Champions Trophy in Melbourne on Saturday saw them lose 3-1 to eight times Olympic champions, India. On Sunday however, England beat Olympic champions Germany in a 4-1 victory.

The Champions Trophy is an 8 team tournament which brings together the best hockey playing nations, and is the first major tournament after the Olympics.

A message from Mr Egerton: “Thank you for all the support I have been getting from King's! The toughest part of the trip has been adjusting to the weather. I know England has been experiencing some flood recently – it couldn't be further from it here. In Perth we played two games at midday in temperatures up to 36 degrees and yesterday in Melbourne we trained in 41 degrees.”

Viewers in the UK will be able to follow the Champions Trophy on the internet via the FIH subscription service (all matches) and selected matches on TV via Eurosport (download the schedule here).
