Arkwight Scholarship success for King's
Four students have secured the prestigious Arkwright Scholarships for this academic year, Tommy Reeves (5AC), Lexi Garnett (5JM), Charlotte Gurran (5DL), and Christopher Austin (5FV), have all been notified of their success. Christian Churchman (5JM), was shortlisted. The Arkwright Scholarships are awarded in July and offer £500 over the two year A Level study for students who continue with Design & Technology and maths. Most importantly, scholars are partnered with a sponsor who will offer the students both support and invaluable work experience, this greatly enhancing their personal profiles and UCAS applications upon university entry. All students have sat an aptitude test, examining their design and technological acumen and problem solving capacity. Those students who were shortlisted were then invited to top engineering Universities for an interview and workshop activities to further explore each students potential. Scholarships will be formally presented at a ceremony hosted by The Institution of Engineering and Technology later in the year. During the day the Scholars have the opportunity to meet their sponsors and other Scholars. The Arkwright Trust was founded in 1990 and supports students during their A Level years by awarding the students assistance to purchase materials and books that they require. In addition to this, the school’s Design & Technology department receives £200 per year for the next two years.
