King's donates books to READ

Pupil's with the donated booksThe King’s School, are donating approximately 400 textbooks to an organisation called READ in Liverpool. Book companies publish numerous updated editions of textbooks every year which schools then purchase in order to remain up-to-date. This results in a number of disused but high quality textbooks being left in school libraries.

The aim of READ International is to collect these books and send them to schools in East Africa where the syllabus is similar and is taught in English. Once the books are collected, they are sorted through so that only the best quality and most relevant ones are sent out. Those books which are unsuitable are sold in order to raise money for shipping fees or recycle them.
