Olympic Rowers

Former King’s Pupil and Olympic rower Tom James MBE has won a World Championship gold medal on the final day of the Rowing World Championships in Slovenia. The win means that Tom has added yet another gold medal to his steadily growing collection.

Tom James along with Alex Gregory, Richard Egington and Matt Langridge fought off Greece and France, both of whom defeated GB in 2010.

Another former King’s Pupil, Chris Bartley received a bronze medal in the Lightweight Men’s Fours final, finishing third behind Australia and Italy. Chris and his team came into the competition with high hopes from being the reigning champions having beat Denmark in the Lucerne regatta in July.

Finally, Olivia Whitlam, is aiming to win a medal at London 2012 after achieving sixth place in the Beijing Olympics (2008). Olivia is working hard to gain a place in the women’s eight crew, an event which is known for its intense competition. The King’s School wish all three of them good luck in their quest for success in London 2012.Chris Bartley and his teamTom James
