King’s Pupils ‘Tri’ best to win

Amelia Standing, Bethan Pode and Isobel Wild Three pupils from The King’s School have recently competed in the Sefton Triathlon for juniors which composed of a 50 swim, 2k bike and a 1k run. The highly successful event was sponsored by New Start and attracted an entry that ranged in age from seven to seventy-four.

It is estimated that approximately 3000 people attended in order to support and cheer on the athletes. Many of the younger athletes were raising money for nominated charities which is expected to exceed in total £50,000 once it has been counted and collected.

Amelia Standing (RMJW) attacked all three disciplines with much enthusiasm and was rewarded with an individual medal for finishing in 15th place with a time of 0:14:51 which was just under three minutes behind the winner. Both Isobel Wild (RMGA) (23rd) and Bethan Pode (RMGA) (55th) also deserve much praise for their efforts; all three were confirmed as winners of the AJIS event.
