COMPUTERS & THE INTERNET
In the computer area of the
library there are 20 networked computers
and one standalone PC for non-networked CD-ROMs.
The networked computers have access to all the
software and resources on the school network, as well as to the
Internet. There is a laser printer for black and white printing.
Colour printing and scanning facilities are also available for
special projects.
Internet Access
The Internet is becoming increasingly important
as an additional source of information. There is a satellite link
to the school which gives us fast access. Our link must be used
in
a sensible and useful way. We therefore ask that the rules for
its
use are followed. These are posted on the noticeboards above the
networked computers.
E-mail
All pupils are given their own school email account.
Library Web Site
This web site gives links to
search engines and also to sites which should be of value to pupils'
studies. Return to the library home page to view these links.
CD ROM and DVD facilities
There is a standalone PC for use with the library
CD-ROM collection only. A colour printer is attached. Advance
booking
is advisable. Details of the CD-ROM collection can be found under
the section "CD-ROMs".
In the Audio-Visual Room there is a computer with
a DVD drive which can be used for small-group work.
Library Catalogue (OPAC)
Details of this computer catalogue can be
