The new library building opened for use in January 2000. It is single storey, with a floor area of approximately 400 sq metres, including office storage space and a reception area. It is linked via a new corridor to both the Sixth Form Centre and to the main school and is adjacent to the new IT teaching room. The building overlooks the playing fields to one side and a newly landscaped courtyard to the other side.

This new accommodation provides us with shelving for over 13,500 books, 20 computer workstations, 60 study spaces, an Audio-Visual room, map storage facilities, newspaper and journal display, small stationery shop, a resource and photocopier area and bag storage facilities. There is also a library office and a computer technician's room.

The building was designed by Mr T Roberts of Biggins Sargent Partnership, built by Hankinson Construction and library furnishings were supplied and fitted by Point Eight Ltd.
