Sixth Form Admissions and FeesAdmissionsAdmission to the Sixth Form is by interview and a minimum entry requirement of seven GCSEs at A*, A or B grade. A* or A grades are normally expected, and in some cases required, in the subjects that will be studied at AS or A2. Pupils join both from the senior school and around a quarter of our Sixth Form join us from other schools. Prospective students are invited for an interview on the school's Sixth Form interview days in November. These interviews are academic but offer the opportunity to see if King's is the right place for a student and whether they are likely to achieve their potential here. It will cover the subjects a student wishes to apply for as well as offering an opportunity to discuss extra-curricular and career ambitions. The Head of Sixth Form, Deputy Head (Academic), Assistant Heads of Sixth Form or Headmaster conduct these interviews (with the Heads of Maths and Modern Languages also conducting subject specific interviews). Prospective students are required to submit their subject choices for A-level along with the most recent reports from their current school. A reference and predicted grades will be requested from the prospective student's school before a final decision is made whether a place should be offered. Download the registration form for entry into the Sixth Form. We occasionally have spaces available in the current academic year. Please contact the Admissions Manager for more information. There is an informal evening for prospective members of the sixth form who are not currently pupils at King's on Thursday 6th October 2011, 6:00-8:30pm. Interviews of applicants for sixth form places will take place Wednesday 7th December 2011. The A level subject choices evening for students who applied to join the Sixth Form is on Tuesday 15th November 2011, 6:00-8:00pm. Open MorningThe next open morning is on Saturday 13th October 2012, 9:30-12:00am. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet the pupils and teachers and see all the facilities of The King's School. Fees*Tuition fees per term: £3544 Lunches (compulsory) £220 It is the governors' policy to keep fees to a minimum while maintaining and, where appropriate, improving the school's standards and facilities. They are normally reviewed annually, with any change coming into effect from September, and are only subject to further increase in any one year if external factors cause costs to rise at a substantially higher rate than anticipated. Parents normally receive a term's notice of any increase. *includes all stationery, textbooks, standard examination fees and personal accident insurance Financial assistance and bursariesNo parent should be deterred from applying to King's because of financial considerations. It is the policy of the school to give whatever financial assistance it can where the need exists. We do not wish able students to be prevented from coming to the school because their parents are unable to provide the full fees. Although the Government Assisted Places scheme no longer provides support for students joining the school, the school's Bursary Trust Fund is used to help deserving applicants where possible, particularly those coming into the senior school from maintained primary schools. No student should be deterred from applying for a place at the school. If you wish to discuss the matter of financial assistance, please contact the Registrar (tel: 01244 689553 or email: registrar@kingschester.co.uk). |
