King's Chester is the one of the top independent, private day schools for boys and girls. It has Junior (preparatory), Senior and Sixth Form sections and takes pupils from Cheshire, Shropshire, the Wirral and North Wales. It consistently achieves somes of the best academic results in the area; offers academic bursaries; and is well known for its sports, rowing and music.

Sixth Form Curriculum

The curriculum in the sixth form is based around 'A' level subject choices.

Students will take four of the following subjects at AS level in the lower sixth with ten periods per fortnight in each:

In the upper sixth they may choose to take three or four of their AS subjects to A-level. In addition all sixth form students have a games afternoon (2 periods) each week, an afternoon of Enrichment Activities (2 periods per fortnight) and one period of Lifeskills per fortnight.

For timetabling purposes the teaching classes are placed into groups. All classes within a group are taught concurrently so a student cannot belong to two classes in the same group. For 2011-2012, the subject choices for sixth form are:

The Timetable

The School's Timetable is over a 2-week cycle. Lessons last 55 minutes with a 5 minute gap between each.

The day consists of:

11:25-11:50 Assembly (Music rehearsals 11:15-11:50)
11:50-12:45 Period 3
12:45-1:50 Lunch

Enrichment

An afternoon of enrichment activities takes place every second Friday afternoon.
