King's has a great reputation for sport. It's part of the school's ethos and the numbers of pupils taking part in regular sport demonstrates the school's and pupils' commitment to exercise and the pursuit of excellence.
The full and varied programme of curricular sport encourages participation and the development of the full range of sporting skills. Small group sizes allow each pupil to get one-to-one attention and the mixture of individual and team sports ensures that all pupils have the opportunity to explore sports and PE, finding the activities that suit their particular needs.
Committed, well qualified staff are supported by outstanding coaches in allowing pupils the chance to further develop in their chosen sports. King's have full fixture lists in several sports and consistently reach county, regional and national finals. King's pupils also regularly achieve representative honours in sports such as hockey, netball, football, cricket, rugby, swimming and tennis, among others. In addition to the pursuit of excellence King's encourages all pupils to take part in sport outside of lessons and all are welcome to attend extra-curricular practices, whatever their skill-level.
The life-skills of determination, commitment and team-work are developed through sport and King's prides itself on the role it plays in the formation of fine young men and women who leave school with confidence, ability and positive attitudes.
In addition to the undoubted contribution these skills make towards future success the main aim of the department is to allow all pupils to leave King's with the confidence to play and enjoy sport at whatever level throughout their lives.
