He is an avid follower of soccer, cricket, rugby and a supporter of Birmingham City FC. He is still actively involved in running Junior school sports teams and prior to moving to Chester, coached Warwickshire Colts at cricket and Birmingham district at soccer. Simon is married to Anna and has 2 teenage children. He enjoys travel, theatre, gardening and spending time with his family.

Away from school he enjoys writing plays for school productions (a musical version of Sherlock Holmes nearing completion) as well as directing and, when he gets the chance, performing on stage.
