HOME \ THE SCHOOL \ MEDICAL FIRST AID

The school nurse is Sister Catherall RGN. She will be present in school throughout each school day in term time. She will be based in the senior school medical room which is centrally situated.

If children are ill and are kept off school they should not return to school until they have been free of symptoms for at least 24 hours.

Parents are asked not to send their children to school if they have fever or are showing gastro-intestinal or flu-like symptoms.

Sickness

If a pupil is taken ill at school parents will be notified as soon as possible. In addition to the school nurse many staff are qualified first-aiders.

In the event of serious illness or injury parents will be sent for.

Injury/Sickness

A pupil taken ill or injured will be referred to Sister Catherall if appropriate. He or she will be cared for either at school or hospital until a parent/guardian arrives. If a pupil is ill or injured but remains in school and we cannot contact the parents by phone they will receive a form telling them of the nature of the apparent illness/injury.
