Modern Foreign Languages at King’s Seniors
· There are cultural, support and extension clubs available, as well as an oral club run by a native speaker and a short, dedicated oral lesson with a native speaker during the two-week timetable.
· Pupils can borrow films from the department library and ignite their interest in cinema.
· The department enters pupils from various year groups into the UK Linguistics Olympiad every year and there are a range of external competitions available for those interested in languages.
· There are various trips on offer, including Barcelona, Salamanca and a château in France, with a German trip in development.
· Sixth Formers have gone on to study French, Spanish, Linguistics, and language combinations with Chemistry, English and Russian in recent years, at universities including Oxford, Leeds, Imperial and Liverpool.
· The department has a Learning Skills programme build into its curriculum, to help pupils learn how to learn languages effectively.
· Removes compete in an MFL Christmas Carol competition.
