Leading Lights 2019

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Leading Light nomination process this year. It has been wonderful to read through the nominations and learn more about the amazing achievements of our alumni in various fields.

Leading Light awards are given to alumni who have shown leadership, innovation and excellence in their professional, community and personal endeavours. They instil pride in their alma mater and their accomplishments serve as an example for the King’s community.

After much careful consideration, the judging panel concluded that they could not choose between two outstanding nominations and decided to award two trophies. One to Anthony Russell, Retired Senior Circuit Judge, Resident Judge for Lancashire and Recorder of Preston and a second to Alan Vallance, CEO of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Anthony has had a highly successful career as a Barrister, QC and Judge. He is also currently the Editor of the CAOKS Newsletter and has put a great deal of energy and enthusiasm into this endeavour. His commitment and support of the school has been constant, impactful and hugely appreciated.

Alan Vallance, a former President of CAOKS, has had a hugely successful career leading numerous transformation programmes in high profile organisations, such as The Law Society. He has given a great deal of time to the school and is particularly supportive of the bursary programme, which aims to widen access to a King’s education for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who participated. All nominations are carried forward for 3 years and if you have further evidence to add to your nomination throughout the year, please send it to alumni@kingschester.co.uk.
