A Masterclass from Marissa Landy (OKS 2015)

The Third years were treated to a workshop from ex pupil Marissa Landy earlier this week.

Marissa took the students through a series of activities to help them to devise their own work based on the theme of Teenage runaways. Marissa skilfully engaged the pupils in improvisation tasks working specifically on status, given circumstance and character objectives. The students absolutely loved working with Marissa and learnt a considerable amount.

Marissa is an actor, writer and director based in London. She studied Drama at Queen Mary University before training in Musical Theatre at Mountview Drama School. She has written and directed 4 plays including her solo show ‘The Cat’s The Thing’ (Edinburgh Fringe and London 2019) and her newest play ‘A Non-Emergency’ which is being developed for a tour in 2022/23. During the pandemic she had to put her creative life on hold and joined the ambulance service and the experiences she gained during that time led to the creation of ‘A Non-Emergency’. She also works as a singing and acting trainer for professionals and young adults preparing for the industry. Alongside private training, she has worked as a visiting lecturer, working with subjects such as devising, acting, singing and writing.
