Rowing History – A message from David Blackham

Calling all King’s rowers!

Despite a very challenging year at the club our rowers have been very active and are currently looking forward to the resumption of rowing activities.

K.S.R.C has a very strong history, and the club is undertaking a project to document the history, in full, so that the athletes at the club are aware of the successes of previous crews and athletes. We currently have listed the Junior Worlds athletes, Henley Winners, Women’s Henley Winners, U23 & Senior GB athletes and Captains of Boats. We also have a full record of 1st VIII finish positions at Henley Royal Regatta.

In addition, Keith Osborne’s centenary book on KSRC helps with crews prior to 1983, however, we would like to have a full document holding the following crews and details of:

  • Coupe de la Jeunesse- athletes name, boat type, finish position and year.
  • Home Countries – athletes name, country represented, boat type, finish position and year.
  • Details of any crews that won gold medals at the National Schools Regatta pre-2000.
  • Other notable crew or individual performances, British Rowing Championships, Munich Regatta, Head of the Charles, Gent Regatta etc pre-2010. (We currently have a full record of Blues)

As we are in the initial stages of building a full table of club data, any data that you are aware of which would help build the full picture would be greatly appreciated. If you are able to assist with the gathering of this information could I ask you to click here and enter the details: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=9VHdxfG8UEqVDaExQ9MFK9qu_r6S26pLrL7v8_3_fppUNzQ3RU5ONENJNk05UFdDRzZHSENGOTlaSS4u

Our plan is to build a full picture of rowing successes of our previous athletes and crews; at which point, we will then be looking at how best to display the crew achievements fully at the boathouse. Many thanks in advance for your help and assistance with this.
