Ben Fogle visits King’s for World Book Day!

We were delighted to welcome Ben Fogle to King’s Junior School to celebrate the launch of his latest book, Mr Dog and the Rabbit Habit.

As well as it being World Book Day, it was also publication day for Ben, so a very exciting day all round! As this is Ben’s first children’s book we felt very privileged to be one of the first schools he visited.

Ben spoke about his adventures, including: spending a year on a desert island, climbing Mount Everest and rowing across the Atlantic. Ben revealed that the inspiration for his book came to him last year whilst he was climbing Mount Everest.

Ben’s talk highlighted the importance of teamwork, acknowledging that it does not matter if you are not great at everything as long as you have supportive people around you. Ben also encouraged all of our pupils to continue reading as it enables you to explore more than you are able to in real life.

Two of our pupils who had come to school dressed as Ben were lucky enough to get their picture taken with him (above).

Willow Lodge and Junior School pupils asked Ben a selection of excellent questions ranging from ‘Who are successful female explorers?’ to ‘What is your favourite part of writing a book?’.

We’re sure our pupils will be reading their signed copies of his book in no time at all, and we can’t wait for the rest of the collection to be released!

Thank you for visiting Ben, we had a wonderful afternoon!
