Our latest Careers Breakfast was hosted by Stanley Moir (OKS 2018) who presented his journey ‘From King’s to Mechanical Engineer’.
A large group of students and staff gathered in one of Stanley’s A level Physics classrooms to hear about his career so far. Stanley studied A levels in German, Maths and Physics and undertook work experience at Bentley in both automotive and motorsport, before graduating with a First Class degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newcastle University.
Following university, Stanley worked in design engineering at Triumph before returning to the North East where he now works in offshore renewable energy.
Pupils were interested to hear about Stanley’s career, especially the considerable world travel he enjoys as part of his current job, including an upcoming job in Japan to install a massive offshore turbine element.
Head of Futures, Clare Holland, thanked Stanley for his time. She said: “We are very grateful to Stanley for coming back to King’s today. The connections Stanley made between what he did at school and where that has led him, are so valuable for pupils to hear, especially as he once sat where they are sitting now.”
