Challenge Days 2025 - The King's School Chester

Challenge Days 2025

Senior School pupils have embraced Challenge Days 2025, leaving classroom learning behind for two days to enjoy a series of engaging, real-world activities that encouraged teamwork, resilience and creative thinking.

This year’s Challenge Days were developed by Deputy Head Operations, Claire Sumner, and she explained why it is an important part of the school year.

She said: “As a school, we believe that stepping into something new is a valuable experience, enriching children with fresh skills and new perspectives beyond the classroom.

“It has been an absolute joy this week to watch the pupils throw themselves into the range of activities we offered and, without even realising, grow in confidence and develop new skills in the process.”

From Creative Arts to the essential life skill of First Aid, and from developing and pitching a new business to taking on a series of STEM challenges, pupils were supported by King’s teachers and specialist staff to ensure that they got the most out of every opportunity.

Mrs Sumner continued: “At King’s, we have a rich resource of talented and dedicated staff who embrace every opportunity to enrich our pupils’ experience and this year’s Challenge Days have been a great example of this.

“The STEM challenge for Shells pupils, and Removes’ Creative Arts Day were just two of the activities that were designed and led by King’s staff, and I particularly enjoyed seeing how our Heads of House and tutors also really got involved in the Removes teambuilding activities on Tuesday!”
