Creative pupils get festive for city charity project

King’s Juniors and Willow Lodge pupils have started the Christmas celebrations early by taking part in a Gingerbread competition in partnership with Hope House Children’s Hospice.

The gingerbread theme is in conjunction with the city’s Business Improvement District, CH1ChesterBID which has created a Christmas Gingerbread Village on Frodsham Square.

The Hope House charity shop on Frodsham Street has joined in with the theme and decorated the store windows with gingerbread themed ornaments and designs . All pupils in King’s Juniors and Willow Lodge were given the opportunity to create their own gingerbread design for the competition.

Hope House Children’s Hospice supports more than 750 local families who are either caring for a terminally ill child, or whose child has died. It costs £6.5 million every year to run the services and 86% of this is spent on care. Approximately one month’s income comes from statutory sources and for the other 11 months of the year the hospice is dependent on public support.

Representatives from Hobbycraft, sponsors of the event, picked a winner for each class, plus another overall winner for the year group and gifted them with a Christmas craft goody bag.

Congratulations to the following pupils:

Willow Lodge:  Ellie, Xander, Serena, Wilfred, Miya, and William.

Junior School: Henry, Ragavi, Arkar, Oliver, Tallis, Jasmine, Elizabeth, Sadhbh, Molly, Aditi, Jared, Fleur, and Josh.
