On Friday, April 1, students, staff and parents got together in the Long Room at Chester Racecourse to celebrate sporting success at the King’s annual Sports Dinner.

After a Covid-enforced break, this was the first Sports Dinner since 2019 and Director of Sport, Mr Lunn, was particularly delighted to welcome parents of U6 students for the first time.

Headmaster George Hartley concluded the evening with a speech which reflected on the importance of sport in his own life, stressing the role that cricket had played in providing a much-needed release from the pressures of studying.

Mr Hartley went on to encourage students to continue with their sport after they leave school and talked about the invaluable contacts he has made through sport over the years, both personally and professionally.
