Goal in extra-time secures an excellent win

The 1st XI girls are through to the Independent Schools’ Hockey Plate final after beating Latymer Upper School, London 2-1 in extra-time.

The girls took the lead in the first half with a goal from Jess Parkinson (5BRD). King’s created slightly more opportunities in the first half but failed to score a few more before the break. In the second half, it was Latymer who posed the greater threat and equalised late on in the second half.

With a 1-1 draw at the end of the match, extra-time was played. Latymer started strongly and King’s continued to defend well. With three minutes remaining, Jess Parkinson created another goal-scoring opportunity and took her chance. King’s played bravely to see out the remaining few minutes and a short corner.

The team spirit and response under pressure was fantastic. They are now through to the final which takes place after half term – well done and good luck, girls!
