On the 22 September we were delighted to host our inaugural King’s Golf Classic Event. Taking place at the prestigious Portal Championship Golf & Country Club, we welcomed 14 teams from local companies, suppliers and parents from the school to take part in a day of golf, followed by a presentation dinner.
The course looked fabulous with a show stopping display of 22 cars from our sponsors Mercedes-Benz of Cheshire Oaks. As well as enjoying a fabulous day of golf, there were opportunities to win prizes throughout the day, which seemed to prove an incentive for some fantastic golf playing!
After a successful day of golf, the event culminated in a spectacular presentation dinner, enjoyed by 130 guests including our very special guest, retired professional snooker player Dennis Taylor.
During the dinner, awards were presented to our winners. We are delighted that Holroyd Howe, our school caterers were the worthy winners and took the silver King’s Cup. Runners up were Investec who took 2nd place and Eclectic Lifestyle took 3rd place. Other prizes included a Tag watch, kindly donated by DM Robinson jewellers, and although close, nobody managed to win a Mercedes car by getting a hole in one!
The auction proved most popular, with so many fantastic prizes including the use of three top of the range Mercedes cars for a week, a Tag watch, golf days at the Portal Championship Golf & Country Club and Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, snooker cues signed by Dennis Taylor, VIP tickets to a Manchester United game and a stay at the Vincent Hotel in Southport.
In all we managed to raise an amazing £14,500. This money will be donated to our Bursary Trust Fund, with a smaller amount of the proceeds going to support the new sports centre and rowing via our parents’ association.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the golfers, to those that joined us for the presentation dinner and to all our sponsors including Mercedes-Benz of Cheshire Oaks, Evolution Funding, Lounds & Co Chartered Accountants, Holroyd Howe, Timpson Shoe Repairs, Rowan Marketing and LT Print Group for making the day such a success.
