Michaelmas Term – Boys’ Football Round-up

It has been another busy term for footballers with more than 100 fixtures against other schools and clubs.

The U14s are still in their National Cup Competition, although Archbishop Beck will provide a stern test in the next round.

All teams continue to make progress in their respective County competitions, all teams have their district cup competitions to look forward to next term and the Removes performed superbly to reach the finals night of the District five-a-side tournament.

Fourteen training sessions per week are well attended with Mr Lunn’s goalkeeping masterclasses being particularly popular and every Saturday morning has seen a large cohort of younger players who have not had competitive fixtures, playing matches between themselves.

The 1st XI have played some exciting football and were unfortunate to lose when they travelled to London to play Forest in the ISFA Cup. Their standout result was a 2-1 victory away to great rivals Shrewsbury early in the season when Sam Flory (U6LES), who is in fine goal scoring form, scored an absolute screamer to clinch victory.
