Raising awareness of men’s mental health

For Joshua Peevor (U6WAL), November became Movember as he challenged himself to grow a moustache and raise money for men’s health

Josh’s expectations – for his moustache and his fund-raising – weren’t high but his main aim was to raise awareness of suicide prevention and male mental health.

He said: “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by this and it’s important that we do everything in our power to reduce the number of men who suffer in silence.”

As well as raising awareness through his moustache, Josh also gave a lecture about men’s mental health as part of our Sixth Form lecture series. His lecture was very well received by both his peers and staff, and he was recognised by his Head of House, Mrs Aldridge, as the “Walsh of the Week”.

So far, Josh has raised an amazing £745, smashing his original target of £500. His donation page will remain open after the end of the month, but he hasn’t yet decided if his moustache will last into December.
