Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal Success for King’s GB Rowers!

Amelia Standing (L6SB) and Wilf Le Brocq (U6KS) represented GB in the Junior European Rowing Championships, Coupe de la Jeunesse last weekend and have both come home with medals!

The Championships were held at Hazewinkel, Belgium, and teams from all over Europe were competing for a place on the podium. On the Friday evening, Amelia, sitting in the ‘2 seat’, for the girls’ VIII, took the silver medal, after missing the out on gold by a few hundredths of a second. Saturday was Amelia’s day however, as she took the stroke seat for the girls’ coxless 4s and the team commanded the field, winning the gold medal nearly 6 seconds ahead of the nearest competition! Sunday was another superb day for the team, as again with Amelia as stroke, they dominated the opposition and once again secured the gold medal!

Wilf also had an outstanding weekend as cox for the boys’ VIII; Saturday saw his team take the bronze medal, with only a few hundredths of a second between the top 3 teams, but Sunday was all about the GB boys’ VIII, and they had a superb race to secure the gold medal!

Congratulations to Wilf and Amelia and all of the GB squad for these tremendous achievements. We are extremely proud of you!
