King’s Chester Crowned Cheshire Phoenix Champions!

On Sunday 23 April our brilliant Junior School Basketball team managed to secure for themselves the title of Cheshire Phoenix Champions!

The mixed team consisted of: Limonée Fearn (J4M), Lloyd Bennett (J4H), Dolly Anderson (J4H), Maisie O’Leary (J4M) , Liv Davis (J4M), Brona Halpin (J4H), Will Saul (J4S), Joe Osborne (J4H), Max Quail (J4S) and Jake Harrison (J4M).

They comfortably won the two group games 8-0 and 12-0, but then a nervy semi-final followed where the players had to “dig deep” to finish with a 2-0 victory. They saved the best for last, however, with a fantastic performance in the final vs Upton Heath; winning the game with a very impressive 14-2 scoreline!

Amazingly, the team only conceded one basket throughout the whole tournament, demonstrating consistently strong defence and brilliant offence.

Team manager Mr David O’Neil had these words to say about his superb squad,

“Many thanks for all the support from family members. Without doubt the best team performance I have witnessed at any basketball tournament during my time at King’s.  All members of the squad have been a pleasure to work with during the lunchtime coaching and extra break time shooting sessions. They listened carefully to all the instructions/tactics given and looked very well disciplined on court.”

The team members have won tickets to watch the British Basketball League Play-off Final at the O2 Arena, London.
