A virtual taste of King’s for year 5 pupils

On Saturday, we gave year 5 pupils a taste of King’s when we hosted a virtual Open Day and set six tricky challenges to complete.

The Headmaster recorded a welcome message to introduce the challenges before the children got to know him a little better in an interview conducted by two of our current Removes, Rachel and Barney. There was even a virtual tour of the school which included a peek into some of our classrooms.

The six challenges were devised by our teachers, and we posted out packs a few days before the event with a guide and some handy bits of kit including science equipment for their Biology experiment.

They included:

  • Art – creating a piece of protest art
  • Biology – extracting DNA from a strawberry
  • DT – building some iconic chair designs
  • Sport – a series of high-energy sports challenges from our PE Department
  • CCF – spotting a heavily camouflaged member of staff!
  • Enrichment – a Sherlock Holmes mystery

Each teacher filmed a lesson for the children to follow at home and we asked for those taking part to send us photos and videos so we could celebrate their achievements.

They certainly didn’t disappoint – take a look!
