Egg-citing times at Willow Lodge

We welcomed new fluffy friends this week as chicks hatched from the eggs that have been incubating in the classroom since the beginning of May.

The children had been watching the incubator carefully for weeks and learning about how the chicks were developing inside the eggs so there was much excitement when they heard the chicks chirping for the first time and they began to hatch. A live video stream from the incubator meant that all of the children were able to watch them hatch and they have since enjoyed handling them with great care and observing them as they grow.

The chicks have been named Loveheart, Chocolate, Fluffy, Lollipop and Twinkle and they will stay in the classroom for a little while longer before Mrs Stevenson takes them home to live with her other chickens.
