High School Musical: J4 pupils put on a show to remember

On 26 and 27 June, the Vanbrugh Theatre was filled with the joyous tunes of the Disney classic, High School Musical

J4 pupils put on a show that was as much fun to watch as it was to perform, embodying the spirit of the show’s finale song, We’re all in this together, thrilling the audience with high-energy dancing, spot-on singing and impressive basketball skills.

Director, Mr Melville, explained why he chose High School Musical for this year’s J4 production: “We wanted to do something very special for Mrs Ainsworth’s last show before she retires. After a little bit of sleuthing, we discovered that High School Musical was one of her all-time favourites, having watched it hundreds of times with her own children. After that, it was an easy decision to make!

“I have been so proud of this year’s J4’s; they fully committed to the show and brought real joy to the stage. They were all fabulous!”

Mrs Ainsworth expressed her thanks to the pupils and staff for making her last show such a memorable one.

She said: “I was over the moon when I found out that the J4s were putting on High School Musical and they absolutely did one of my favourite shows proud.

“I just hope they didn’t mind me dancing along to the curtain call rendition of We’re all in this together with them! It’s a memory I will treasure from my final year at King’s Juniors.
