Travelling to school

By car

The King’s School is located on the A483 Chester-Wrexham Road, 1½ miles south of the city centre and about half a mile from the A55 Chester southerly bypass.

From M6/M56 Take M53

Chester/North Wales and continue south (it becomes the A55). Take the A483 Chester/Wrexham exit, follow signs to Chester. The school is on the right, immediately after the second roundabout.

From A56/A51/A41 Whitchurch

Turn south onto A55 and then as above.

From A41 Birkenhead

Follow signs through Chester to A483 Wrexham/North Wales. The school is on the left, a mile south of the city. There is visitor parking in front of the main entrance under the clock tower.

By train

Chester railway station is a 10 minute taxi ride away. The Arriva No 1 bus also runs from Chester railway station and stops directly outside King’s. Please check local networks for connecting services.

By bus

King’s is accessible from most surrounding areas by public bus.

Travelling by bus is made more affordable by our Scholar Passes, which are available for Arriva services. These passes are now available to purchase via Parentpay.

The King’s School runs two minibus services:

North Wales – St Asaph, Holywell and Northop

Wirral – Heswall, Neston, Two Mills (shared service with the Firs School)

For more information or to add your child to the waiting list for either of these services, please call the PA to the Bursar, Shirley Davis, on 01244 689559.

Contract bus services also run from some surrounding areas but please note that these contract services are not operated by the King’s School.

*Pupils are not to walk from/to the Wrexham Road Park and Ride stop as it has been assessed by our staff as unsafe. We would suggest a journey from a Park and Ride site into Chester. These buses link with ARRIVA No 1 bus, which stops safely outside school.
