Gallery: Infants and Juniors in the spotlight at Speech and Drama Festival

On Saturday, 16 March, The King’s School once again played host to the annual Chester Speech and Drama Festival.

The festival gives infant and junior-aged children an opportunity to demonstrate a number of skills, including verse speaking, improvisation, and prose reading, attracting entries from across the region.

Willow Lodge and Junior School pupils entered a number of categories, performing with confidence and impressing the judges.

J4 teacher Mr Melville helped some of the older children in King’s Juniors to prepare for the competition and was very proud of all who competed.

He said: “It was fantastic to see so many of our children having fun with their performances and enjoying the experience; the trophies, medals and certificates were just the icing on the cake!

“The J4 individual and group performers entered four categories and placed in the top three in each of them; a fantastic result!”

Ravanne Hamer is the LAMDA teacher at King’s and has been teaching the younger children in their weekly lessons.

She echoed Mr Melville’s comments: “The children really enjoyed performing and I am proud of each and every one of them.

“The standard this year was incredibly high and the children did so well, taking home lots of well-deserved prizes.”

Congratulations to everyone who took part, many of whom are pictured here with their trophies, medals and certificates.
