Let’s Connect in Children’s Mental Health Week

On Monday, 6 February, Junior School pupils marked the beginning of Children’s Mental Health Week with a thoughtful assembly on this year’s theme of Let’s Connect.

Led by our Junior School Mental Fitness Ambassadors (MFAs), the assembly focussed on what we can achieve when we work together, and what happens when we feel disconnected.

They encouraged pupils to use Children’s Mental Health Week to strengthen their connections by saying hello to someone new or ask someone how they are feeling; if every pupil commits to doing one thing that connects with someone else, it will make our school a better place.

The assembly ended with wise words from Lucy: “A friend is one of the nicest things to have and one of the best things you can be.”

Our Junior School MFAs have been trained by Mrs Benson and members of the Sixth Form MFA team. As well as delivering assemblies and getting involved with whole school initiatives, they are trained to listen and help when fellow pupils feel sad, lonely or worried.

They all wear a badge so that they are easily identifiable in school and, as Isla said during the assembly, “this badge is our superpower that can help you!”
