Remembering the Fallen

At 11.00am this morning, the school fell silent as we remembered the 114 Old King’s Scholars and all those who have given their lives to protect our freedoms.

This year, the Last Post was played by Calum McCaig (U6GRO) and Jake Bywater (3GRO), after which a two minute silence was observed. The Exhortation was recited by Mr Gill before the wreaths were taken by pupils from Willow Lodge and King’s Juniors to be laid at the school’s War Memorial.

The wreaths were proudly laid by Alice Marsh (J4M), Imogen Carway (J3B) and Skye Turner (I1WD), who all have birthdays on 11 November, and Laith Abdel-Qader (IRR) who will turn 5 on November 12. Two wreaths were laid, one on behalf of the school and one of behalf of the CAOKS Alumni Association.

Pupils and staff observed the silence in their classrooms where they were able to follow the ceremony via a live link.

We are also very proud that five of our pupils represented King’s at the Cenotaph in London this morning and we look forward to hearing about their experience when they return to school tomorrow.
