It all adds up to success for our prize-winning mathematicians

The Junior Mathematical Challenge is an annual event run by the UK Mathematics Trust to promote a love of problem solving, something that our pupils always embrace.

The challenge is designed to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. In a 60-minute, multiple-choice challenge, Removes and Shells faced a series of maths problems to compete against schools across the globe.

Only the top-scoring 40% of all participants are awarded certificates each year, so we were delighted that King’s pupils achieved 7 Golds, 24 Silvers and 59 Bronzes. Congratulations to our Gold Winners Kiegen, Shubham, Harry, Kouki, James and Lucas who have qualified for the Junior Kangaroo, and special congratulations to Wiktor Lech (RMSC) who achieved an astounding 117/135 and has qualified for qualified for the Olympiad! Best of luck to all of them!

Huge congratulations also go to Sam Burchett (3BRD) and Angela Yang (3GRO) who took part in the UK Mathematics Trust’s Grey Kangaroo for  year 9 pupils. Both scored in the top 25% of participants and received a Certificate of Merit. Well done to you both!
