Adèle joins National Youth Concert Band

One of our talented Sixth Form musicians has recently been accepted to play in the National Youth Concert Band of Great Britain.

Adèle Bracegirdle (L6WAL) is an accomplished musician who already has a busy schedule with a number of musical commitments both in and out of school but is delighted to have been offered a place with the prestigious ensemble.

She said: “It is a real honour to be accepted to play principal flute in the National Youth Concert Band and I am really excited about the opportunities that it will open up for me.”

Mrs Whitfield, Director of Music at King’s, is proud of Adèle’s achievement and took the opportunity to thank her for her contribution to music in school.

She said: “As a flautist, saxophonist and pianist, Adèle plays a very active part in the musical life of the school as a member of Big Band and 1541 Brass. We are all very proud of her in the department, especially as her place in the National Youth Concert Band comes after she also recently started playing with the Hallé Youth Orchestra.”

Adèle plays principal second flute with the Hallé Youth Orchestra and recently took part in a side-by-side project with the Hallé, which culminated in a memorable performance at Bridgwater Hall in Manchester.

Adèle has also been studying at the Royal National College of Music for the last three years where she is working towards diplomas in flute and piano, qualifications that will help her fulfil her dream of studying the flute at a conservatoire when she leaves school.
