An adventurous day of woodlands and wizards!

From discovering a Hedgehog Highway to creating magical spell books, there was lots going on at The King’s School on Saturday, May 12.

Staff were delighted to welcome younger children to a Woodland Adventure at Willow Lodge infants and budding wizards to a Harry Potter theme Play in a Day at the Senior School.

Willow Lodge became a hive of activity as children took part in a number of fun outdoor activities including roasting marshmallows over an open fire in the forest school area and creating some wonderful pieces of art, and head gear, from leaves and wild flowers.

Over in the Vanburgh Theatre, more than 50 young visitors worked at lighting pace to put together a drama and dance performance that brought all seven Harry Potter books to life. They worked incredibly hard and showed great cooperation to be able to take the audience on a whistle-stop tour of JK Rowling’s much-loved tales, after learning their parts in less than four hours.

They were ably assisted by a ‘tech crew’, who had spent the morning learning all about the sound and lighting in the theatre from the school’s technician supervisor.

Over in the Junior School art room, talented artists turned second-hand books into mysterious, gilded spell books and used an old fashioned pen and ink pot to create ancient scrolls, all of which was presented in an exhibition for returning parents!

It’s always a great pleasure to invite people along to King’s and we hope everyone had a wonderful time!
